Honest Limits

What We Cannot Restore

Cleaning is not magic. There are limits to what any shoe service can do, and we will tell you before we start:

  • Delaminated soles. If the foam midsole has separated from the upper, cleaning will not re-bond it. We will refer you to a cobbler for resoling.
  • Color bleed or fading from age. We can clean and condition, but we cannot restore dye that has washed out of fabric or leather over years.
  • Mold inside the shoe. Surface mold we can treat. If the lining has rotted through, the shoe needs a cobbler, not a cleaning.
  • Velour, satin, and beaded shoes. These go to specialty restoration services. We do not have the chemistry or the workspace for them.
