Our Process

How Heat Transfer Vinyl Works

1

Bring or Send Your Design

A logo, a name, a number, an inside joke. We work from vector files when you have them, and we can redraw simple designs from a photo or sketch if you do not.

2

We Cut the Vinyl

A plotter cuts your design out of a sheet of heat transfer vinyl. Weeds (the excess vinyl) are removed by hand so only the design itself is left on the carrier sheet.

3

Heat Press onto the Garment

The vinyl is pressed onto your fabric at the correct temperature, pressure, and time for that specific fiber. Cotton, polyester, and blends each get a different press profile.

4

Cool, Peel, Inspect

After the press, the carrier sheet is peeled once the vinyl has cooled. We inspect every piece before pickup or delivery.

Materials

What HTV Works On

HTV bonds best to fabrics with a polyester or cotton content. Common items we personalize:

  • Cotton tees and hoodies — the workhorse for team and event shirts.
  • Polyester performance wear — athletic jerseys, coaching shirts, race bibs.
  • Cotton-poly blends — most retail apparel falls in this range.
  • Canvas tote bags and aprons — popular for small businesses.
  • Baseball caps and beanies — curved surfaces need careful press positioning.

Limitations

What We Cannot Press

A few materials do not accept HTV. Bring the garment to the shop and we will test-press a small corner if you are unsure.

  • 100% nylon — unless treated, the heat press will damage the surface.
  • Waterproof or coated fabrics — the adhesive cannot bond through the coating.
  • Leather and suede — these go to our embroidery service instead.
  • Silk and very thin synthetics — heat marks the surface.
  • Items with heavy silicone prints — the press does not make contact.
